An honest read on prospects and what a case is worth.

Costs risk

Advice on the costs you could recover or have to pay.

Trial advocacy

Representation through to a final hearing.

Civil disputes cover a wide range of claims between individuals and businesses that end up in the County Court or High Court. A barrister can advise on the merits and value of a claim or defence, the procedure and costs risk, and the realistic prospects of success.

A barrister will give you an honest view of whether a case is worth running, suggest settlement where sensible, and represent you at trial. Through Direct Access you can instruct a barrister directly, without going through a solicitor first.

Yes. Through Direct Access a barrister can advise you, draft your case and represent you at trial, without going through a solicitor first.

Will I have to pay the other side's costs if I lose?

Often the loser pays a proportion of the winner's costs. A barrister can advise on this risk before you commit.
